There are some old-time favorite cookie recipes that bring back childhood. Classic Oatmeal Raisin cookies are one of them! Chocolate chip is the other.
Funniest thing that comes to mind every time I pick up an oatmeal raisin cookie is how can I pick the raisins off the top? Did you ever pick out all the raisins?
I'd like to say as an adult I don't pick the raisins out anymore, but who are we kidding! I guess theirs still a kid inside of me! Haha
Old Family Oatmeal Raisin Recipe
My mom didn't cook often, but cookies were one thing she did well!
This recipe was passed down from my grandmother, who was a fabulous cook. You'll see quite a few of her recipes within these pages.
One day my daughter asked me to bake some cookies for the school party at her elementary school. Of course I was in!
My daughter and I had such a wonderful time baking this recipe. Its as extra special since she was now the 4th generation backing these Classic Oatmeal Raisin cookies.

Needless to say, her classroom loved the cookies! There were a couple of kids who were allergic to raisins. We got them some chocolate chip cookies.
They were such a big hit at the elementary school that they asked us to make them for the Christmas party that was coming up next. My daughter was so proud and happy. Every dirty dish was worth the smile on her face!
Maybe next year I'll try bringing my Chocolatey Peanut Butter Brownies or my Rice Krispy Scotcheroos. What kid doesn't like Rice Krispy treats!

Ingredients:
- 1 c. unsalted butter, softened
- 1 c. brown sugar
- ½ c. granulated sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 t. real vanilla extract
- 3½ c. quick oats
- 1 c. all-purpose flour
- 1 t. pumpkin pie spice
- ½ t. baking powder
- ½ t. baking soda
- ¼ t. salt
- 1 c. raisins
Directions:

1.) Preheat oven to 375°F and line a large, rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper or a Silpat baking mat. Set aside.
2. ) Cream the butter with the brown and granulated sugar in a large mixing bowl.

3. ) Add in eggs and vanilla, and mix on low speed to combine.
4. ) In a separate bowl, combine the dry ingredients.

Then add the dry ingredients to wet ingredients and mix.

Stir in raisins until combined.

5. ) Cover and chill dough in the refrigerator for 30 minutes before baking.
6. ) Divide the dough into 24 equal-sized balls. Arrange on the prepared baking sheet with 1-2 inches between balls of dough.

PRO TIP: To keep the dough from sticking to the glass, wet the bottom of the glass before pressing down on the dough.
Press balls down with the bottom of a glass.

7.) Place in the pre-heated oven and bake for 8-10 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.

Remove from oven and transfer to a wire rack to cool for 10-15 minutes before serving.
